Senior Living Community for Residents of Winder, Georgia

Our philosophy is to support residents while they “AGE IN PLACE”. This means that as the aging process develops, our care team is dedicated to continue to care for people within the scope of licensure. The last thing you want to worry about after a health challenge is having to MOVE! Our team is dedicated to working with families and elders to serve as a solution to any health challenge they might face. We realize circumstances change over time and have pioneered healthcare delivery methods that adapt to our residents needs as they change. We are dedicated to providing care during these health transitions by coordinating home health care, therapy and end of life/hospice care. Our team consists of experienced nurses within our management team to help navigate healthcare decisions and support families during these transitions.

The Landing Senior Living promotes an activity program that supports an elder’s whole domain of well-being and promotes local community integration, while focusing on a person’s individual preferences. We offer a wide variety of therapeutic activities that includes ventures outside of the community. Being located next to the local high school, residents can literally watch a baseball game right out of their window. Many of the other rooms within the community have a lovely view of a learning center and children’s playground. This location is conveniently located to shopping, eating, and healthcare resources.

In looking for senior living facilities near Winder, you may find yourself asking questions like ‘what is the difference between assisted living and nursing home care?’ Assisted living communities focus on the day to day enjoyment of the resident, while also focusing on the individualized care each resident’s needs, while nursing home care leans towards more of a clinical focus and institutional feel. Assisted living facilities and nursing homes are similar in the aspect of having rooms or apartments available to seniors, however payment options differ greatly. While they both accept Veteran’s benefits and long-term care insurance, only nursing homes accept health insurance and/or Medicaid as forms of payment. Major differences include the need for skilled nursing care or 24/7 nursing care, which can only be provided in a nursing home/skilled nursing facility. Assisted Living typically prefer residents to provide their own furnishings and decorate their apartment to their taste while nursing homes are more clinical. The goal of assisted living care staff is to SUPPORT resident needs while PROMOTING independence.

In the same token, you may find yourself asking “what is the difference between assisted living and independent living?’ Again, with both similarities and differences, determining which is the right senior housing fit for you or your loved one is essential. Independent living homes provide little or no resident supervision and little to no clinical care, including assistance with activities of daily life. Assisted living communities provide levels of care that include activities of daily life (bathing, dressing, toileting, eating, transferring from bed to chair or chair to bed, etc.) needed by each individual resident. Independent living communities are not structured to provide senior housing or care for residents with cognitive impairment, as they do not provide secure locations or provide any physical or clinical supervision. Independent senior housing options are a great fit for many, however, aging in place and addressing health concerns as they arise are better supported in the assisted living environment.

“Is memory care the best option for your loved one?” “What is the difference between assisted living care and memory care?” The Odyssey Memory Care at The Landing of Winder, is able to provide supervision and care for those residents who have cognitive impairment and memory loss. The Odyssey memory care has been thoughtfully built to provide the best dementia and Alzheimer’s care in the elder care industry. The area is secured at all times, and is inclusive of a dining room, sitting room, sunroom, activity space, as well as individual apartments for residents. Our community as a whole is overseen by a Certified Dementia Practitioner who is present and available to work with residents and families for all cognitive care needs. The Landing of Winder is equipped with the latest in wireless nurse call technology that allows the care staff to closely monitor each resident, as well as allows each resident the security of knowing someone is only one call away at all times.

About Us

The Landing Senior Living owns and operates The Landing of Winder. The company was formed by a group of like-minded business individuals who saw a need for a different type of senior living experience. These owners have personally navigated health issues with their own parents and have faced many obstacles trying to find proper care and realistic/adaptable solutions for their parents. The group is comprised of physicians, builders, and business owners who have years of experience operating businesses, personal care homes (AL) and medical facilities. This group knows first-hand the needs and wants of residents and their families. The Landing Senior Living is locally owned and operated so our owners are integrated in the daily operations of each community.
